About Me

Katrina is a native of the great State of Maine, and the daughter of a music teacher and a vocalist.

Katrina came to directing after an extensive acting career. She has performed throughout the U.S. and Canada, appearing in works by Chekov, Shaw, Sondheim, Ibsen, Wilder, Wasserstein, and McNally.

Katrina's focus shifted to directing in the 1980's and since then she has directed and choreographed over 200 productions in the Southeastern U.S.  Directing credits include works for many professional, educational and community theatres including Tampa Players, Ocala Civic Theatre, Theatre South, Columbia Artists, Mad Cow Theatre, Riverside Theatre, High Tor Summer Theatre, Theatre Winter Haven, Civic Theatre of Central Florida, Ice House Theatre, Osceola Players, Orlando Repertory Theatre, and the Orlando-UCF Shakespeare Theatre.

A love of story telling and an interest in writing works for young people has lead Katrina to collaborate on adaptations of Kenneth Graham's The Wind In The Willows,  and Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist with Orlando theatre artist Trudy Bruner.  Ms. Bruner and Ms. Ploof, in collaboration with Emily Bruner, have also created an original work, Zarafa!, about the travels of an extraordinary giraffe who became the first resident of the Paris Zoo.

Katrina has been a member of the Lincoln Center Theatre Directors Laboratory since 2000.
